“For a platform with millions of page impressions, even small load-time gains multiply fast. Speed Kit made our booking pages noticeably faster without touching our own tech stack.”
— Sascha Kuhle, Gruppenleitung eCommerce, alltours flugreisen gmbh

Introduction

alltours is one of Germany's largest tour operators, selling package holidays, flights and hotel stays to around 2.3 million guests a year. Its booking business runs on alltours.de and on sister sites for Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, built as a headless React/GraphQL storefront.

Challenge

A package holiday is researched, not bought on impulse. Visitors compare destinations, hotels and dates across many pages before they book, so every page load sits between a guest and a booking.

alltours wanted that journey faster without rebuilding it. A performance project that required frontend work would have competed with a roadmap the team was already carrying.

Solution

Speed Kit accelerated alltours.de from outside the existing stack: no replatforming, no rewrite of the booking journey. It serves pages from its own cache, predicts which page a visitor will open next and prepares that page in the background before the click.

The effect was measured in a 50/50 live test against an unaccelerated control group, using Speed Kit's real-user monitoring.

Results

Faster Page Loads

Speed Kit reduced median Largest Contentful Paint from 1,466 ms to 1,119 ms — a 347 ms improvement, or 24% faster. Time to First Byte improved by 96 ms and First Contentful Paint by 91 ms.

Median LCP on alltours enabled pages: desktop 1,417 to 802 ms, mobile 1,490 to 1,246 ms, and overall 1,466 to 1,119 ms.

Preparing the Next Page Before the Click

Of the pages visitors opened next, 92% were already cached before they asked for them, and 41% were fully prerendered in the background. As a holidaymaker keeps browsing, the next step is ready before the click.

alltours instant experience funnel: same-domain navigations form the 100% baseline, 92% of next pages are preloaded and 41% of users receive a prerendered page.

Business Impact

Speed Kit groups real user sessions by the page speed they experienced and measures how behaviour changes with it. For alltours, every 100 ms of Largest Contentful Paint is worth 0.9% of conversion rate. Across the 347 ms Speed Kit delivered, that is:

MetricRelative uplift
Conversion rate+3.2%
Add-to-cart rate+2.4%
Session length (pages viewed per session)+2.6%

Conclusion

A 24% faster booking journey lifted conversion rate by 3.2%, with more baskets started and deeper browsing along the way. alltours got there without changing how its storefront is built, and Speed Kit now runs across alltours.de and the Austrian, Swiss and Dutch sites.
