Tag Manager

A tag manager (like Google Tag Manager) is a system that allows marketing and business teams to add and manage third-party marketing tags (snippets of code for analytics, advertising, etc.) on a website without having to directly edit the site's code. While this provides incredible agility, tag managers are one of the most common sources of severe performance problems if not properly governed. They make it easy to inject numerous, heavy Third-Party Scripts that can slow down the site, often without the development team's awareness.
