Third-Party Script/Tool

A third-party script or tool is any piece of code, functionality, or service that is provided by an external vendor and integrated into a website. Common examples include analytics services (like Google Analytics), advertising trackers, A/B testing tools, customer support widgets (like a live chat), and embedded media players (like YouTube). While these tools provide valuable functionality, they are one of the most common sources of performance problems because their code is often unoptimized, can block the Main Thread, and can change at any time without notice, introducing sudden performance regressions. For this reason, they require strict governance, especially when deployed via a tag manager.
