Web Performance Budget

A web performance budget is a set of defined limits for key performance metrics that a website is not allowed to exceed. Rather than focusing on simple metrics like file size, modern performance budgets should be set on user-centric outcomes like LCP, INP, and CLS. These budgets are integrated into the development process, often as automated checks in a CI/CD pipeline, to proactively prevent performance from degrading over time as new features are added.
